Building Immersive VR Training at Uptale, the Spatial Learning Platform
February 1, 2026
Overview
In February 2026 I joined Uptale as a Software Engineer. Uptale is a spatial learning platform: companies use it to build immersive training (360° scenes, VR, interactive role-plays) from their own real workplaces, then run it on headsets, desktops, tablets and phones. My work focuses on keeping the platform reliable and adding new features to the training experience for enterprise customers.
Key Responsibilities
Platform Improvement & Maintenance: Maintaining and improving the immersive learning and VR training solutions that enterprise clients depend on daily, with a focus on stability, performance and code quality.
Feature Development: Designing, building and integrating new features for training experiences and the platform, from the Creator Studio where trainers build their modules to the player learners use.
Multi-Device Experiences: Contributing to experiences that run the same way on VR headsets, web browsers and mobile devices.
International Collaboration: Working with international product and engineering teams in an agile setup, from refining requirements to shipping to production.
Impact at Scale
The features I work on reach learners at global organizations including Amazon, Airbus, Michelin, Schneider Electric and Carrefour. They use Uptale to train staff on safety, operational procedures, onboarding and soft skills through realistic, immersive scenarios.
Challenges and Learnings
Shipping software for immersive training is different from classic web development. One feature has to behave the same on a VR headset, a laptop and a phone, and enterprise clients expect high standards for reliability and security. Working on a mature product in a large codebase with a distributed team has strengthened my skills in software architecture, careful code review and clear async communication.
Outcome
This role builds on my full-stack background and moves it into spatial and immersive learning. It is a chance to work on a product that helps people get ready for their jobs in real workplaces. The experience is ongoing, and I keep learning about VR, 360° content and building enterprise SaaS at scale.
